Moura Community Progress Group

Mission Statement: Moura Community Progress Inc. is a representative body from the community of Moura elected to liaise with Local and State Government and large employers in the district to encourage people who have employment in the town to live in Moura and enjoy the benefits of a small town lifestyle. Secondly, to improve the image and perception of Moura as a town of choice; to live in and bring up a family and enjoy all the benefits a small rural community can offer.d bring up a family.

About the Moura Community Progress Group: A community meeting with close to 300 people attending was held on 10th November 2010 and Moura Community Progress was formed.

A committee was elected by the community to bring about positive change and increase facilities and services to the town. The group is supported by our very passionate community and is also supported by the local Chamber of Commerce , the CFMEU and the AMWU.

The focus is primarily about getting people who work in this community to live with their families here. The community are passionate about 'getting Moura back on track' and singing the praises of small town rural life.

Moura Community Progress is working towards enhancing a vibrant, cooperative, innovative and viable community that takes great pride in being supportive, self sustaining and self reliant.

The committee is working towards improving local facilities and recognising those groups who improve the liveability of Moura. Every positive step brings benefits to the town, makes it a more pleasant place to live, encourages tourists and encourages more people to move to the area. With strong, positive ties to both the mining and rural industries, an increase in facilities will create a strong future for its residents.

A ‘More to Moura’ brochure has been developed following a successful grant application to DEEDI “Blueprint for the Bush - Building Rural Communities Fund” and sponsorship from Anglo American Dawson Mine, Moura.
