Coal and Country Festival
First held in 1971, the week long Coal and Country Festival is held annually at the end of August.
Beginning with a Festival Ball, it culminates on Festival Day, the fourth Saturday in August, with a Street Procession, Coal Shoveling and Roof Bolting Championships, Rodeo and numerous other events, which highlight the town and district’s diverse attractions.
